Fans' Favourite have teamed up with Hibernian Retro to bring you something special. That's right, it's a scarf inspired by the Hibernian FC home shirt worn during the 1989/90 season.
This shirt remains a firm fans' favourite to this day. The 1989 Adidas home shirt was the first shirt to grace the new style saturn badge, after Hibernian changed their club crest from the Old Crown & Football. It was the second season in a row that Hibernian's shirts were produced by Adidas. Hibs fans were excited to see the new kit. They were right to be excited!
The kit launch was held at Easter Road Stadium with a special appearance from die-hard Hibernian supporters - The Proclaimers. The kits were beautifully modelled by the duo, along with John Collins (below).
The green patterned shirt, white sleeves and iconic Adidas Stripes were a match made in heaven. The detail on it is just sublime. Hibs' main sponsors were 'The Frank Graham Group', a group of local Edinburgh Contractors, started by Frank Graham. They sponsored Hibs for three years!
Some fantastic players donned these shirts; Paul Kane, John Collins, Steve Archibald, Mickey Weir, Gordon Hunter, Pat McGinlay, Gordon Rae and Gareth Evens, to name a few.
One of the stand out ties wearing this shirt came in 1989, when Hibs won both of their European matches against FC Videoton.
